This ensures that your living space maintains its charm for many years, in stark contrast to cheaper options that often sacrifice quality for affordability. We are dedicated to using only the highest standard Australian urethane in our products, ensuring that each shutter upholds its brilliance and visual appeal, ultimately giving you confidence in your investment and elevating the overall ambiance of your home.
Correct paint for shutters means long-lasting colour and light
Choosing the correct paint for shutters or at least the right surface finish is probably the most important criteria for deciding which product or material for shutters is the best for you; PVC, poly, or painted timber. Most materials are close to equal when it comes to their durability in regards to opening and closing for example, or strength or longevity of shape. DIYShutters timber shutters do have an advantage in this respect though, since the join between rail and stile is bonded or ‘welded’, whereas PVC/poly shutter panels are held together by screws.
However, PVC, or poly vinyl chloride shutters which are 90% of the ‘poly’ shutters sold in Australia, sometimes just called ‘poly’, is an organic chain molecule polymer than has a very finite life. It is particulrly susceptible to Ultraviolet radiation, and although additives can be mixed in, the plastic will fail due to its particular molecular weakness.
So PVC cannot compete with quality Urethane paint for shutters.
Some importers of timrb shutters buy from Chineses suppliers that apply water based acrylic paints. Although improvements have been made to these paints, they still do not match the durability and retention of gloss of polyurethane paints.
The longevity of the properties of th paint is why polyurethne paints, like Evic 690, are almost univerally used for automobiles today.

The right supplier for paint for shutters
DIYshutters has selected Evic Paints for the supply of it’s 2 pac polyurethane shutter paint. “Australia’s Leading Industrial paint and Coating manufacturuer”.
DIYShutters has chosen the 690 series urethane for it’s longevity ( Automotive grade), being up to 25 years, and the smoothness of finish. DIYShutters only uss 60% gloss, not Full gloss, as reflection of light for a winodw furnsihing from full gloss would be too harsh, a satin finsh (30% gloss) is too soft or not liely enough.
