Our latest innovation at DIYShutters is the single-panel, integrated arch shutter – the ideal solution blind for arched windows. In most cases, no external frame is necessary; the panel sits neatly over the opening by a few millimetres, ensuring no visible gaps from the front. The flush panel projects just 6 mm from the wall or surrounding tiles, creating a seamless look with existing architraves – DIYShutters’ exclusive ‘No Gaps’ mounting style, available only from us.

Crafted from solid engineered timber (never MDF), each panel is robust and hinged on one side for easy opening. This allows complete access to your window to let in fresh air whenever you desire.

This design for a blind for arched windows is similar to the first few photographs, but there are no rails in the middle blocking view and light, just one continuous flow.

Flexible Louvre Control

The standard design features horizontal louvres, but an alternative fan-shaped arrangement is also available for the arch. Louvres open and close fully like standard shutters, and both the arched and main sections have independent controls, allowing custom light and privacy settings.

Bespoke Engineering & Cost Considerations

Each arch shutter is custom-made, requiring precise engineering drawings and skilled craftsmanship for a near-perfect result, reflected in the cost. However, for multiple similar arches, economies of scale can reduce the overall price.

While a DIY installation is possible, we generally recommend professional installation by DIYShutters to guarantee a flawless finish. Where the window reveal is not timber – as is common with arched windows – installation involves securing the fixings using a compound in the wall.

For those seeking the pinnacle of design for a blind for arched windows, our ‘fan’ style arch is unmatched. Every aerofoil louvre is meticulously handcrafted, fanning elegantly towards the centre. While the louvre angle is fully adjustable, these cannot close completely, allowing rays of light to filter beautifully into your room or reflect off the ceiling – a feature that adds unique charm. This design requires a supporting rail whereas the standard design above omits the need for mid-rail cross-bracing.
